Celona Evolve Application Data Migration Platform

 

Celona Evolve is a new generation application data migration platform specifically designed to migrate data from legacy applications to new business applications and domains. Four Approaches to Application Data Migration

Celona Evolve supports four new generation approaches that are key to ensuring application data migration success:

  • Migration Concurrency manages both the migration and simultaneous synchronisation of applications data to minimise disruption to normal business operations.
  • Intelligence and 360 degree visibility for total management and separation of existing and future applications, processes, users and data
  • Progressive migration provides a range of strategic options from ‘Big Bang’ through to ‘incremental’ migration with detailed real-time reporting. It supports local, regional and global business transformation programmes.

Celona Evolve Application Data Migration Platform

At the heart of the Celona Evolve platform is the Migration Management Centre. The Centre manages and controls every aspect of the migration process.

  • Management Dashboard – provides control through visible and real-time status reporting.
  • Business Migration Console – provides configuration, migration operations, workflow, and scheduling for the migration.
  • Migration Scheduler – automates the migration of business datasets according to their migration lifecycle. It is designed to be configured for ‘execution periods’ or ‘quiet periods’ in which each increment of a migration can be scheduled and executed.
  • Reports and Audit Trail – provides fine grained Business level entity (object) information on the migration and total synchronisation process in real time. In addition also supports 3rd party business intelligence tools integration for enhanced reporting generation.
  • Exception Management - provides an advanced error handling / fallout management framework to manage the exceptions within a migration project.

Intelligent Migration Controller

Celona Evolve’s Intelligent Migration controller is a sophisticated and intelligent migration workflow system, which allows applications data, the dependencies of the migration systems and the state of data in the migration process to be fully managed, configured, controlled and tracked.

Business Datasets – allow the business the agility to choose the migration strategy (Progressive Migration approach) in alignment with the business (transformation) needs.

Dependency Models – ensure the sequence of data transfer between systems to satisfy the referential integrity demands of each target system.

State Models – these ensure that at any time throughout the migration process, the status of each Managed Item (Business level entity) can be understood and managed with complete 360 degree visibility.

Migration Workflow – Provides migration project level coordination of the selected business dataset, from selection, through migration, to exception management and sign-off.

Zero-downtime migration engine

Manages the migration and flow of the data between applications and systems. Celona Evolve migrates and synchronises data using processor and memory, therefore requiring no off-line staging or storage, ensuring data is always available to the operation throughout the migration.

Concurrent Synchronisation engine

Concurrently synchronises between source and target applications using Change Data Captue (CDC) listeners to track changes in either system. The Synchronisation Engine ensures a ‘total synchronisation’ approach and instructs the migration engine of changes in either source or target systems. This bi-directional capability provides a business approach that reduces risk and provides continued support for the legacy eco systems.

Adaptive Migration Framework (AMF)

Application Adaptors – Celona Evolve’s unique framework enables the flexible plug-in of either single or multiple business application adaptors when migrating data from a legacy source to a new application target or domain.

Transformation model library – The Adaptive Migration Framework (AMF) contains the data transformation models and rules of the mappings of legacy and target application systems for use in a common model. Using this agile transformation model allows data from source and targets applications to be individually mapped and modified.

Common Model - The common model allows Celona Evolve to migrate business entities that contain federated data from more than one tables in one or more applications to one or more applications. Because the business might need to migrate data from multiple application to multiple target applications, the common model provides the benefit of less (re-) modelling effort, greater re-use of existing models and reduces the time to ROI for strategic applications.
